Lure me away, my only Romeo. . .That bell sounds exactly like Cinderella!

Hatsune Miku is probably the only Vocaloid that needs no introduction. Having spanned over a decade of activity, she’s been used for countless songs and modules! Good for her and figure collectors’, as this means there have also been countless scales of her over the years.

For some background, this module is called Vintage Dress, and first appeared in Project DIVA 2nd and every subsequent Project DIVA game. Of course, you can’t mention the module without the song, this being the classic Romeo and Cinderella by doriko. If you’re unfamiliar with this song, be warned—it’ll get stuck in your head! Enough chatter, let’s take a closer look at this figure then shall we?

Sculpted by Grizzry Panda and manufactured by Max Factory, Vintage Dress Miku stands at a scale of 1/7 and is 25cm tall. Max Factory also are responsible for quite a few other high-quality Vocaloid scales, and this is no exception!

The first thing you’ll probably notice is the striking colour contrast between Miku’s signature green hair/eyes and her red-violet dress. Shining a light on her twin tails reveals a very slight translucency, which I’d say has been executed well as the refraction reveals a variance of greenish tones. On top of her head is a cute little crown, adorned with red and blue gemstones and a flower.

Looking more closely at Miku’s corset-midriff, we can also notice added creases as a black lace tightly wraps around her chest. Below this, we can see Miku’s exposed lower-waist, broken up by a sash and accompanying skirt. They really nailed the anatomy here, accentuating her hourglass figure with their pose and sculpt!

I have to say, one of my favourite parts of this figure are all the little details. Miku’s outfit is most certainly the star of the show with ribbons and frills around her armlets, skirt and leggings—really driving that “vintage” feel home.

On that note, we can’t not mention this magnificent prop. . . a crystaline microphone ;) The glossy green fingernails and rose motif are a nice touch too.

Ahem, Back on topic. The choice for a mirror style base fits really well with the overall aesthetic of the figure, so I’m glad they went down that route. The whole crystalline-rose thing is also continued as they almost sprout out near her left foot.

I have to say that I’m quite impressed with this figure. Max Factory’s Vocaloid figures tend be quite consistent in terms of accuracy to their source modules and quality, and this would definitely be one of their better ones. I actually find Max Factory in many cases to be a cut above Good Smile Company’s own work—which isn’t something I’d say lightly as they are kind of a big deal when it comes the world of Miku figures. If I had to make a criticism, it’s that her expression *could* have a bit more. . . expressiveness, but this could be Max Factory trying to stay true to the source material. It’s definitely not a big deal and doesn’t detract from the overall package.

The final verdict? A fine addition to the Miku shrine!
